In Florida, we recently prepared for, and fortunately dodged, a massive hurricane.
It reminded me of my days in India where my meditation teachers would refer to our daily practice as an invitation to step into the eye of the storm.
This is the eye of Hurricane Dorian: serene and untouched by the devastating chaos around it.
This is the exact space where calm and mindful leadership takes us: to our own center, a place that remains undisturbed, unshaken, calm and centered no matter how turbulent our external circumstances.
Like the eye of the storm, mindfully cultivating this center draws us closer to our inner resources and away from the devastation of fight or flight.
From this space, we’re not easily swayed or triggered by the chaos and overwhelm around us. Instead, we ride this center and show up with a
- calm confidence that creates trust and safety
- intuitive decision-making that saves precious time
- conscious communication that alleviates anxieties
- compassionate presence that inspires collaboration
This kind of leadership fosters abundance of all kinds. I’ll be discussing this in the FB group this week.
