What comes to mind when you think of hormones?
Menopause?
Pregnancy?
‘That’ time of month?
Truth is our hormones are working on so many functions in our body: heart rate, body temperature, blood quality, respiration, bone health. You name it.
As women, our hormones are our internal GPS. They help us tap into our very best self. The one that’s confident, centered, radiating good health and completely in alignment with her authentic self. There is no secret to tapping into this goddess within us. All we need to do is sync up our hormonal blueprint and let it guide the way.
But when our hormones are out of whack, everything is affected: Symptoms can range from acne, dandruff, headaches, cramps, exhaustion, digestive problems, irregular periods, weight gain, anxiety, insomnia, low libido, inexplicable food cravings to mood swings and irritability and depression. And we also lose touch with our natural wisdom, intuition and sense of self.
So what causes hormonal imbalances? I’ve figured out four main causes:
- Internal imbalance:
Problems with elimination, poor liver and thyroid health, lack of appropriate nutrients and rollercoaster blood sugar levels. Understanding our body’s requirements, from nutrition and herbs to relaxation, help release this toxicity. - External toxicity:
Hormones in meat and dairy, pesticides in food, chemicals in cosmetic products, fluoride in water, toxic household cleaning products, lead in paints and other crap in our air and water affect our hormonal health significantly. But there are ways to cleanse and remove these toxins from our body. - Stress:
Stress triggers it’s own set of hormones that completely wreck havoc with our delicate hormonal make-up. Most stress today is caused by non-life threatening situations and yet we are sitting ducks to this enormous hormone disruptor. What if you could learn some ways to tame the monkey mind and operate from a calmer space? - Rejecting our femininity:
When did you first learn to reject/loathe your body? What made you believe that your period was a dirty or inconvenient process that deprived you of a fun-filled life? Would you believe that your cycle offers a perfectly systematic blueprint that can guide you towards a healthy, productive, creative lifestyle?
Isn’t it time to friend, heal, nurture and celebrate every aspect of our femininity? What would be possible for your and the planet if you lived a life of vitality, freedom and happiness?
How do you feel about your hormones? What in your opinion is keeping them imbalanced right now?
