I’m delighted to share a very special interview with Gregor Steinmaurer, systemic and family therapist, group facilitator and creator of IntegralBeing.
But here’s the real reason for this interview: Gregor’s on a (not so) secret mission to make women heavier.
Yep, you read that right and if you’re as intrigued as I was when I first heard about his mission, you’ll definitely want to watch our interview. As women stepping into our power – as entrepreneurs, leaders and change-makers – staying connected to our body’s intelligence and taking up space are fundamental to our growth and expansion.
But first, a quick background:
Gregor and I have been friends since 2005, but I got really familiar with his work last year when we embarked on a client-therapist relationship.
Since my divorce two years ago, I’ve had all manner of old wounds and trauma re-surface. As I navigated through these challenges, a friend gifted me a book called In an Unspoken Voice: How the Body Releases Trauma and Restores Goodness by Peter A. Levine.
Levine developed Somatic Experiencing®, a body-awareness approach to healing trauma. The book combines brain research, indigenous healing rituals, vast clinical knowledge and a study of animal ethology to explain how trauma results in injuries that can be transformed and healed by attention to the natural healing powers of that reside deep within every human being.
I was immediately drawn to this approach and knew I had to find a therapist who specialized in Somatic Experiencing.
The very next day, Gregor posted on his Facebook page that he was accepting clients for the Somatic Experiencing process.
(Gosh, I love how the Universe works.)
In the course of our sessions, Gregor would share with me his vision to support women to take their rightful place in the world.
I knew I had to interview him and share his wisdom and insights.
In this interview we talk how important it is for women to take up space – physically and energetically – to be the change-agents and leaders they desire to be.
We discuss the importance of getting grounded and rooted or as Gregor says
If you want to get light, allow yourself to be heavy first
We discuss what true feminine power really means. According to Gregor a woman’s power in a male-dominated workplace is in not being like the men. He explains what is needed instead.
And finally Gregor shares a few tips and practices so women can re-connect with their powerful inner resources.
