Do you remember being taught how to manage money as a young girl?
Me neither.
I often lament that some of life’s most important skills such as eating well, managing money and nurturing relationships should be taught in school! This is how we achieve true health.
But it’s never too late to learn. Let me share my roller coaster ride with money:
As an MBA graduate, I landed a high-paying job with technology products company. So high-paying in fact that when I quit two years later, I had enough savings from my stock options to take a year-long sabbatical. During this time, I traveled and lived in Thailand, lived and volunteered at a meditation centre in India and in the last four months, co-founded a online video magazine company (which failed miserably but that’s besides the point ;)).
I then found another job. A year later I started my own social media practice. All this time money would come or go. Either way, whether I had thousands saved up or a few hundred, I was constantly worried. I realised several years later that what I was experiencing is now called a lack consciousness – believing that it’s never enough.
Your money story might not be the same as mine, but in my years coaching women, I know one thing for sure: money is a hot-button topic and one that can cause stress and overwhelm for the best of us.
I want to introduce you to Denise Duffield-Thomas, a mindset mentor and author of the books “Lucky Bitch” and “Get Rich, Lucky Bitch”. Denise’s bootcamp program changed my entire mindset around money. I was able to dissolve thousands of years of programming around my lack consciousness. It has truly been a life-changing, liberating and empowering experience for me. My bank account would agree with that 🙂
Denise has an amazing deal right now – hundreds of dollars worth of manifesting courses and meditations, all designed to help you manifest an absolutely incredible 2015. At a HUGE saving.
But it’s only for a limited time!
I want 2015 to be YOUR YEAR. And a healthy relationship with money is a gift that keeps on giving.
Love xo

Love the image & phrase! I’m in Denise’s bootcamp too – so great (even though I can’t actually get myself past week 2!)

My mother was the bread winner of the family. However, having 5 other siblings, it wasn’t easy for her. What I did learn from her though is hard work. Managing money, is quite a different story, but she was able to raise all of us basically by herself. As an adult, I’m more fearless because of her. I’ve heard of Denise’s bootcamp, I’m glad it worked out so well for you, I’ll definitely think about it, its such a great deal!

Your mother sounds like a badass Brenda! Love when we have such inspiring female role models in our lives 🙂 I agree making money and managing it are totally different. Personally for me the former was a lot easier than the latter till I chanced upon Denise’s work.

my mom never had a full-time job outside the home (she did jobs here and there as needed and within her interests – she was an artist). but oh-my-gosh could that woman make money magically appear! when i realized years later how very little our family actually had when i always thought we were RICH, it made me smile. (and it makes me miss my mom even more just thinking about it.)

April I love you for sharing this feeling of abundance you grew up with. We can truly feel wealthy and abundant without too much in the bank account (and ironically that’s when we experience some windfalls :)). Lucky you for experiencing that as a child and carrying it forward into your life as an adult. Love xo

I’ve been working on my own money blocks for the past several months. It’s time for my deep rooted beliefs to go! Thank you for opening up about your money story.
