Licia Ronzulli is an Italian MEP who won a seat in the 2009 European Parliament election. The next year, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. On 22 September 2010, Ronzulli took her 44-day old daughter, Vittoria, to a plenary session of the European Parliament as a symbolic gesture to reclaim more rights for women in reconciling work and family life.*

This image is historic because it represents a change in the way we look at women and work. Typically we hear that ‘children don’t fit in’. And yet, we make them together with our men, they are our future, so why this sense of exclusion? By showing up for work with her baby in her arms, Licia has given everyone an opportunity to re-think the status quo.
This is a good time in our planetary existence to be rethinking our ways. Not just at work and how our children fit into it but every aspect of our life at home and work.
This is a time to integrate the woman and all she brings to the world. We are suffering, both individually and collectively as a result.
What would you like to change?

I love this story! It’s crazy how work pervades into the enjoyment of life and that there is this view that the two must be completely separated. I’m not a mom, but I have had workplaces be supportive of me bringing my dog into work. It’s amazing what a difference this small change creates.

I agree Lora. I’m not a mom either but I strongly believe it’s time to integrate motherhood and all it’s aspects into the workplace. What are we working for, really, if not our children. Also I LOVE that your dog gets to come to work with you 🙂 xo
