Do you know about these heartbreaking stats:
Men apply for a job when they meet only 60% of the qualifications, but women apply only if they meet 100% of them.
Men do a whopping 75% of the talking during the average business meeting? Whereas women will mull over and doubt their ideas and might not speak up at all.
Why does this happen?
Historically, men have been taught and encouraged to take up space.
Women?
Women have been taught to play and stay small both physically (what the fuck is a size 0 dress size anyway?) and energetically (“Wait your turn to speak”, “Who do you think you are?” etc).
No matter how well-prepared and experienced women are, the inner-gremlin can dominate with criticism and self-doubt. I’ve experienced this with women across the board: CEOs, million-dollar business owners, highly accomplished women starting a new business, award-winning creators….
We might not be aware of these self-limiting beliefs, but they float around in our unconscious mind, keeping us from stepping up and speaking up.
These messages we’ve internalized about playing and staying small, not just cost us personally, but also globally.
Women are the antenna of spiritual and holistic wisdom. The entire Universe’s intelligence is contained within the female – or everyone who identifies as female (we’re designed to bring life into the world after all).
your ideas and expertise – whether it’s around healing, business systems, community engagement or parenting – are desperately needed by the world.
But you need to take up space first.
Today I invite you to:
Step out of your comfort zone and play big
Ask for that raise.
Apply for that speaking gig.
Raise your prices.
Speak up at the next meeting.
Delegate what’s not in your zone of genius.
How else can you take up space today, and everyday?
